There have been some recent improvements to the Alligator belt lacing category sections on eMurdock.com. Murdock Industrial has sold Flexco Alligator conveyor belt lacing on eMurdock.com for a while now, but we're hoping the small changes and additions we've made will help you find what you're looking for quicker and easier.
The first improvement you'll probably notice on the main category page is that the lacing sizes are now clearly labeled with their corresponding conveyor belt thickness and organized in ascending order from smallest (under 1/16" thickness) to largest (up to 7/16" thickness).
If you're still unsure which Alligator belt lacing size is right for you, there are now links below the main description to Flexco's Alligator belt lacing PDF and the full lacing size chart if you need more information such as the mechanical fastener rating for your belt, recommended minimum pulley diameter and approximate corrugated hinge pin diameter.
Once you click through to the lacing size you need, you'll see some improvements to the size category pages as well. It's now easy to determine the Flexco part number, how wide your Alligator belt lacing is, whether it's constructed of steel or stainless steel and what each carton of belt lacing contains.

Tygon Plastic Tubing: Flexible & Clear or Colored
Tygon tubing is a brand of clear, flexible plastic tubing from Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, creator of the first clear, flexible plastic tubing that has set the standard for quality, innovation and performance with their exceptional line of plastic tubing products. Recognized as an integral and vital component of countless fluid transport systems, Tygon plastic tubing delivers an uncompromising standard of consistent performance in a range of applications.
As I said last week in my post about Tygon tubing material, Tygon plastic tubing is offered in a broad range of formulations, each engineered to meet specific user needs including resistance to chemicals, temperature fluctuations and abrasion, as well as high purity and long service life.
All 11 Tygon plastic tubing formulations are noted to be flexible, but not all of them are clear. Tygon F-4040-A is translucent yellow for positive identification as a fuel and lubricant tubing, Tygon R-3400 is black in color to resist ultraviolet light, ozone and weathering, and Tygon Silver Antimicrobial tubing is formulated with a silver-based compound on the inner surface at the point of fluid contact to prevent bacterial buildup.
The clear, flexible plastic Tygon tubing formulations are:
- Tygon R-3603 tubing for general laboratory and vacuum purposes
- Tygon B-44-3 beverage tubing

Aeroquip Hose and Fittings Catalogs on Aeroquip.cc
This is why we're putting links to digital versions of Aeroquip catalogs in the places you most often visit: Aeroquip Racing Hose, Aeroquip Racing Fittings, Aeroquip Industrial Hose and Aeroquip Industrial Fittings. Click the Aeroquip catalog picture in the top right of those pages and a new tab or window will pop up and load a digital version of the Aeroquip catalog you need.
If you're looking for more information, check out our digital Aeroquip catalog library where you'll be able to view even more Aeroquip catalogs. These will all open at Youblisher.com where instead of a plain, old, boring PDF where you scroll through literature, you can flip through our digital catalogs just like you were holding a hard copy in your hands.

Tygon Tubing Material: What Is Tygon Tubing Made Of?
I try to stay on top of what people are saying on the internet about the products Murdock Industrial sells and one of the most common questions I see is, "What is Tygon tubing made of?" While that's a very good question since the answer will determine what you can do with your Tygon tubing, this question is like walking into a shoe store and saying, "I want to buy Nike shoes." You've whittled your choices down a little bit but there's still plenty more we need to know.
"Tygon" is the brand name of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastic's line of application specific tubing, the same way "Nike" is a brand name. Murdock Industrial distributes 40 different formulation and style combinations of Tygon tubing in 7 base material categories. These Tygon tubing material categories are: Plastic, Silicone, PVC, Polyurethane, Fluoropolymer, Thermoplastic Elastomer and Plasticizer Free.
In future posts I'll go over each of these material categories in detail and outline the features and limitations of each, but for now you can go here for a general overview. If you want to know information about a specific Tygon tubing formulation you can access product PDFs with technical info here.

Jackhammer Hose with Chicago Fittings: Thermoid Air Power
The newest product on eMurdock.com is the Thermoid Air Power Jackhammer Hose. I'm not going to lie, a couple days ago I knew nothing about jackhammer hoses, but after doing my research I've come to one conclusion: this thing is a beast!
The first thing that stands out about Thermoid Air Power above all other jackhammer hoses are the factory crimped-on steel Chicago fittings as opposed to the old single- and double-banded Chicago fittings. Crimped Chicago fittings offer many benefits including increased coupling retention, a solid, secure seal at the fitting, improved flexibility at the fitting/hose connection and it eliminates the chance your gloves or clothes will snag in the bands.
It comes in 50 foot lengths and consists of an EPDM tube with a 3/4" I.D., red EPDM cover and is reinforced with a 4 spiral polyester yarn construction. Many competitors use a 2 spiral construction, so this combined with the crimped Chicago fittings give the Thermoid Air Power Jackhammer Hose a 300 psi working pressure, more than the 200-250 psi of other jackhammer hoses.
Thermoid's list price for the Air Power Jackhammer Hose is $83.38 but you know you're not going to pay that at Murdock Industrial. From now until April 30 you'll pay just $32.81 for one of these bad boys or $31.40 per hose if you buy 28 or more.

Aeroquip AQP Racing Hose Minimum Operating Pressure?
I was looking through the new Aeroquip Performance Products catalog at the Aeroquip AQP Racing hose this morning when something caught my eye.
"Minimum Operating Pressure."
Huh?
I quickly noticed what was wrong, and I created a red box around the problem area in the picture above. You can check it out yourself on page 6 of the catalog. In case you don't see what's wrong, the top row of the hose specifications columns is off by one column so it gives you specs for "Maximum Hose O.D.," "Minimum Operating Pressure," "Weight Bend Radius" and "Per Foot."
Normally typos are small errors (see the "Complements of" watermark on the PDF catalog link at the beginning of this post) but listing an Operating Pressure as Minimum instead of Maximum can be dangerous... even deadly.
Plus, I've found two more errors on this page in my printed catalog: the Applications for the AQP hose aren't listed (they are in the PDF) and the superscript 1 next to the "1000/750" in the column that's supposed to be Maximum Operating Pressure isn't explained. Looking at the old catalog you can see this 1 stands for "Rating for use with lightweight crimp fittings." This is still vital info you need know.
I'm not saying I'm perfect, I'm just putting this out there so you don't misinterpret these specs and make a horrible mistake. Have you found any more typos in this catalog or any others? Let us know and we'll put them up here because there's no reason to keep this info to yourself if you can help someone stay safe!

New Features on Aeroquip.cc
Just as I mentioned Friday about the new features on eMurdock.com we've also been adding features to Aeroquip.cc, Murdock Industrial's online store for Eaton Aeroquip brand hose, fittings and other products for uses ranging from industrial hydraulics, high performance automotive and aerospace/marine applications.
The main page was redesigned a few months ago and we think it's been for the better. You can now easily navigate right to the products you're looking for instead of having to dig through pages hoping you're in the correct area.
The left side navigation has also been revamped to closely match the new front page. Now it doesn't matter which page you start at, you can quickly and easily get to where you want. The font has been enlarged and the categories have been color coded: Red for high performance automotive products, Blue for industrial hydraulics and Green for aerospace/marine.
The top right has 4 new buttons to easily get you the information you want. The first will take you to HoseMachine.com where you can order custom Eaton Aeroquip industrial hose assemblies. Second is the digital literature library where you can electronically flip through 15 of Eaton Aeroquip's most popular catalogs. Third is our new shipping information: wherever you are in the world we have an option to get you your products. The last button will take you to HoseDog.com where you can track the hose assemblies we make with your hose's serial number.
Just as with eMurdock.com, we've added a live chat button just below the search box on the left side of the page. If someone is online to help, we can instantly send you links to the products and literature so you don't have to search. If no one's online you can leave a message and we'll get back to you by email as soon as we can.
Aeroquip.cc has always been a secure online store but now we have our own online security certificate to give you greater peace of mind when ordering. When you add a product to your cart and hit the View Cart link, you'll now see our Online Security symbol. Click the logo and you can view our up to date online security credentials.
We're always doing what we can to make sure you can easily and efficiently order what you need from our online stores. If you have any question, suggestion or complaint... let us know! Email us at Support@MurdockIndustrial.com and tell us how we're doing!
