Akron's Biomedical Corridor and Murdock Industrial

Akron biomedical corridor
Posted on the Akron Beacon Journal's website, Ohio.com, on Saturday was an article about how Akron's biomedical corridor is beginning to take shape. Boundaries have been drawn on Akron's map to finally outline the biomedical corridor as well as new biomedical zoning and incentive areas to encourage growth of companies focusing their efforts in the biomedical industry. The full article can be read here.

Akron's biomedical corridor literally encompasses the 106 year history of Murdock Industrial. Our original location, when we were known as the M.F. Murdock Company, was at 310 Water St. and was torn down in 2000 to make way for the Considine Professional Building between Akron Children's Hospital and Canal Park.

Our current location, 553 Carroll St., is a block east of Route 8 on the opposite side from the University of Akron and just a few blocks south of Summa's Akron City Hospital. We are very proud to serve all three of Akron's hospitals, supplying them what they need when they need it to keep them and this city running the way it should.

In 2009 we made it a point to begin heavily marketing Tygon tubing, made right here in Akron at Saint-Gobain's Tygon manufacturing plant on Gilchrist Rd. Tygon is a brand of flexible tubing that has become a standard for many laboratory, pharmaceutical, surgical and biomedical applications, among others.

Murdock Industrial has been committed to Akron for over a century now and we're very excited to see what happens in the city's future and with the development of the biomedical corridor!
