I was looking through the new Aeroquip Performance Products catalog at the Aeroquip AQP Racing hose this morning when something caught my eye.
"Minimum Operating Pressure."
Huh?
I quickly noticed what was wrong, and I created a red box around the problem area in the picture above. You can check it out yourself on page 6 of the catalog. In case you don't see what's wrong, the top row of the hose specifications columns is off by one column so it gives you specs for "Maximum Hose O.D.," "Minimum Operating Pressure," "Weight Bend Radius" and "Per Foot."
Normally typos are small errors (see the "Complements of" watermark on the PDF catalog link at the beginning of this post) but listing an Operating Pressure as Minimum instead of Maximum can be dangerous... even deadly.
Plus, I've found two more errors on this page in my printed catalog: the Applications for the AQP hose aren't listed (they are in the PDF) and the superscript 1 next to the "1000/750" in the column that's supposed to be Maximum Operating Pressure isn't explained. Looking at the old catalog you can see this 1 stands for "Rating for use with lightweight crimp fittings." This is still vital info you need know.
I'm not saying I'm perfect, I'm just putting this out there so you don't misinterpret these specs and make a horrible mistake. Have you found any more typos in this catalog or any others? Let us know and we'll put them up here because there's no reason to keep this info to yourself if you can help someone stay safe!

New Features on Aeroquip.cc
Just as I mentioned Friday about the new features on eMurdock.com we've also been adding features to Aeroquip.cc, Murdock Industrial's online store for Eaton Aeroquip brand hose, fittings and other products for uses ranging from industrial hydraulics, high performance automotive and aerospace/marine applications.
The main page was redesigned a few months ago and we think it's been for the better. You can now easily navigate right to the products you're looking for instead of having to dig through pages hoping you're in the correct area.
The left side navigation has also been revamped to closely match the new front page. Now it doesn't matter which page you start at, you can quickly and easily get to where you want. The font has been enlarged and the categories have been color coded: Red for high performance automotive products, Blue for industrial hydraulics and Green for aerospace/marine.
The top right has 4 new buttons to easily get you the information you want. The first will take you to HoseMachine.com where you can order custom Eaton Aeroquip industrial hose assemblies. Second is the digital literature library where you can electronically flip through 15 of Eaton Aeroquip's most popular catalogs. Third is our new shipping information: wherever you are in the world we have an option to get you your products. The last button will take you to HoseDog.com where you can track the hose assemblies we make with your hose's serial number.
Just as with eMurdock.com, we've added a live chat button just below the search box on the left side of the page. If someone is online to help, we can instantly send you links to the products and literature so you don't have to search. If no one's online you can leave a message and we'll get back to you by email as soon as we can.
Aeroquip.cc has always been a secure online store but now we have our own online security certificate to give you greater peace of mind when ordering. When you add a product to your cart and hit the View Cart link, you'll now see our Online Security symbol. Click the logo and you can view our up to date online security credentials.
We're always doing what we can to make sure you can easily and efficiently order what you need from our online stores. If you have any question, suggestion or complaint... let us know! Email us at Support@MurdockIndustrial.com and tell us how we're doing!

New Features on eMurdock.com
If you haven't recently visited Murdock Industrial's online wholesale industrial supply store, eMurdock.com, then you'll notice a few changes we hope you'll find useful.
The first thing you'll probably notice is the new logo in the top left. Don't be scared! It's still the same eMurdock.com with the same great products. We just thought it needed a fresh coat of paint!
Speaking of the same great products, we revamped the left hand product navigation. It's been condensed and reorganized to reflect the most popular products you order from us. We also changed the text from black to white to make it a little easier on the eyes.
Between the search box and the new product navigation on the left, you'll find a new live help box. If you need some assistance simply give it a click! If someone's here in the office to help you, a live help chat window will pop up. The benefit of this is we can send you links to literature or product pages to get you the information you need quickly and efficiently. If no one's online to help, you can email your questions to Support@MurdockIndustrial.com and we'll answer you as soon as we can.
Finally, our latest feature hopefully gives you greater peace of mind when ordering online. In the top right just under our contact information you'll find eMurdock.com's new data encryption logo. Ordering from eMurdock.com has always been secure, but now we have our own online security certificate. Give that logo a click and you can see our secure site credentials.
That's it for now, we hope these new features help!

Flexco Alligator and Clipper Conveyor Belt Lacing
If you didn't know before, Murdock Industrial is a distributor of Flexco conveyor belt fasteners, including Flexco's popular Alligator and Clipper brands of conveyor belt lacing. Flexco conveyor belt lacing simplifies conveyor belt maintenance since it can be installed faster and easier than vulcanized splices, resulting in less downtime and increased productivity. Plus, it can be installed by your own maintenance crews, eliminating the need to rely on outside contractors.
Both Flexco Alligator and Clipper conveyor belt lacing offer low profiles for light-duty conveyor belts. Alligator conveyor belt lacing is perfect for low-volume users with conveyor belts up to 1/2" thick as it's hammer-applied splice requires no special installation tools.
Clipper conveyor belt lacing has a double-staggered grip pattern that gives it exceptional holding power without degrading the integrity of the conveyor belt carcass. Installation does require a lacer, but frequent users will see a cost savings down the road.
Flexco conveyor belt fasteners can be purchased online through eMurdock.com or by calling us at toll free at (800) 426-5273.

Akron's Biomedical Corridor and Murdock Industrial
Posted on the Akron Beacon Journal's website, Ohio.com, on Saturday was an article about how Akron's biomedical corridor is beginning to take shape. Boundaries have been drawn on Akron's map to finally outline the biomedical corridor as well as new biomedical zoning and incentive areas to encourage growth of companies focusing their efforts in the biomedical industry. The full article can be read here.
Akron's biomedical corridor literally encompasses the 106 year history of Murdock Industrial. Our original location, when we were known as the M.F. Murdock Company, was at 310 Water St. and was torn down in 2000 to make way for the Considine Professional Building between Akron Children's Hospital and Canal Park.
Our current location, 553 Carroll St., is a block east of Route 8 on the opposite side from the University of Akron and just a few blocks south of Summa's Akron City Hospital. We are very proud to serve all three of Akron's hospitals, supplying them what they need when they need it to keep them and this city running the way it should.
In 2009 we made it a point to begin heavily marketing Tygon tubing, made right here in Akron at Saint-Gobain's Tygon manufacturing plant on Gilchrist Rd. Tygon is a brand of flexible tubing that has become a standard for many laboratory, pharmaceutical, surgical and biomedical applications, among others.
Murdock Industrial has been committed to Akron for over a century now and we're very excited to see what happens in the city's future and with the development of the biomedical corridor!
